  • How to sell a design tool by writing about Steve Jobs’ evening walk🚶🏻‍♂️

Canva’s content strategy might seem broad-brush at first glance, but take a deeper look and you’ll see how each piece ties back to a use-case or a user goal in some way.

One of their most popular pieces, “Why everyone from Beethoven, Goethe, Dickens, Darwin, to Steve Jobs took long walks and why you should too” is actually about boosting creativity, productivity and communication.

    Are you listening, designers? 👩🏼‍🎨

  • How to grow without really trying… for Dummies 🤓

If this “How to” for Dummies book existed, we’re pretty sure it’d be authored by snowflake

Accurate depiction of the GO-TO book on effortless growth

What happens when you have a product that customers can’t seem to get enough of? What happens if those customers are themselves growing at break neck pace? You get Snowflake 🙌🏻 A company with an NRR of 173%! Implying that the company grows 1.73x YoY even without adding net new customers over the course of a year 🤯

  • When exceptions become the norm 😌

When Slack got to $100m ARR faster than any SaaS company in history it looked like an exception, an anomaly, a freak of nature even! Cut to 2021, Snowflake is growing at 110% YoY at $1B ARR, Datadog at 70%, and Okta at 60%.

PLG has moved abnormally fast-growing SaaS companies from being the exceptions to being the norm. Can someone make the next 5 years go faster ⚡️ We cant wait 😅 🙌🏻

All Turtles founder Phil Libin wanted to call his next venture something so wacky, people would stop asking him what All Turtles meant. He succeeded.

Mmhmm breaks the mould of video presentations (and company names). Their long-term vision for an increasingly remote world is to provide a platform with the surface area to reveal people’s personalities. Because… tools like Zoom, Slack are not designed to get to know people as people.

“I’m going to present my screen now. Let me know when you’re able to see it.” Here’s an example of semantic satiation, a phenomenon whereby the thoughtless repetition of a word or a phrase leads to the sense that it has lost its meaning and appears to us as just garbled sounds…

Nobody loves Retool more than the developers guild, and for good reason. Retool frees up software developers from the rut of internal tools and moves them up stack to focus their creative attention and bandwidth on the core product. Here’s the story of a tool that was originally perhaps disastrously described by its founders as “Excel with higher order primitives.” 🤷🏻‍♀️
